In some ways, the great war of content is reaching its climax. Google set the ground rules and let webmasters play, and the arms race of escalation has reached a peak. No longer is it about the volume of content; it’s about the quality and the variety. You need to branch out while you maintain that volume, creating interesting content to hook new readers and keep old readers around.
What sorts of content can you create? Here are a few broad categories, and several ideas within.
1. Write a List Post
List posts are easy. Pick a number, like “10.” Pick a topic, like “ways to get more unique content for your blog.” Then do a little research, figure out ten ways to do that thing, write them down, flesh them out and you’re good to go.
You can write list posts in a completely freeform way. Any number from 5 to 100 is perfectly viable, as long as you have the data to back it up. The smaller the number, the more you need to write about each post. You don’t want to make a simple checklist with no explanations and only include five items; that’s a thin article.
