SEOblog Interview: Atlanta SEO Expert Lori Newman from Newman Web Solutions

We’re excited to have interviewed Atlanta SEO expert Lori Newman, from Newman Web Solutions, for the next installment of our Featured SEO Expert Series!

Newman Web Solutions is one of SEOblog’s Top SEO companies in Atlanta.

Lori Newman is co-owner and creative director of Newman Web Solutions. While working for a general contractor for nearly five years, Lori decided to take her 20 years of design and development experience and help other local contractors and service-based businesses achieve success. Lori began as a freelance web designer but soon expanded into SEO, and then a full-service digital marketing agency as demand increased. Over the years, Newman Web Solutions has helped many local businesses reach new levels of marketing success. We have clients who have been with us for over a decade.

What would you say is unique and/or challenging about the Atlanta SEO industry?

“Local search engine optimization is notoriously difficult for urban markets, and Atlanta is no exception. Both Atlanta and the SEO industry offer a highly competitive environment, which presents a big challenge.”

How does your agency stand out in a crowded market like the Atlanta area?

“Our approach to SEO involves a lot more than optimizing websites and building link popularity. Utilizing a variety of digital marketing strategies, we help our Atlanta SEO clients gain a competitive edge. Through social media and content marketing strategies as well as conversion rate optimization, we employ a multifaceted approach to SEO that produces results. As part of our discovery phase, we perform a comprehensive SEO site audit. When assessing our client’s website, our team considers specific factors that affect SEO performance. By evaluating these aspects, we can identify weaknesses and opportunities that will help us develop a specific SEO strategy.”

Can you share a success story from a local SEO campaign centered around your area?

“FD Remodeling of Atlanta had already established themselves locally within a few miles of their business address. Now FD Remodeling was looking to expand its footprint to a much wider service area in the Metro Atlanta area. All their current marketing was focused within five miles of their business address.

“Our solutions were as follows: 1) Market research of competitors in the new services areas FD will be expanding in; 2) Increase FD’s SEO visibility for new services areas with blogs targeted with keywords for those areas; 3) Run targeted paid ads (both brand awareness and service ads) for those new service areas; and 4) Social media postings were influenced by local events, news, curated local posts for the new focused-service areas.

“Even with challenges such as brand awareness, limited SEO and no reviews, our efforts resulted in a 30 percent increase in brand awareness, 25 percent increase in new customers per month and 44 percent organic traffic growth.”

What is the best advice you ever received in business?

“Learning when to say ‘no’ was the best advice I ever received. As a small SEO agency, we realized we couldn’t accept every client. We therefore developed high standards and committed to adhering to them. Although it may seem odd to reject SEO clients, this has enabled us to focus on leads that are likely to convert.”

What do you think is the most important quality that makes an SEO agency truly great?

“Newman Web Solutions understands that no single approach to search engine optimization will work for every small business. Nevertheless, our combined experience, attention to detail, and commitment to SEO best practices have provided us with remarkable results.”

Any predictions for the future of SEO?

“Among the main concerns in 2021 is that Facebook and Instagram will now need permission to track users’ private data with this iOS update. Thus, people can now opt-out of tracking Apple iOS updates on Facebook as well as ad personalization for website and app conversion events.”

What is your reaction when you hear that “SEO is dying”?

“The SEO industry is not dead, it’s just evolving. Google’s algorithm is constantly being updated, so it’s not surprising that click-through rates are declining. The web giant has made it very easy for people to target their ideal customers through search engine optimization or paid advertising. Our advice is to change your approach because otherwise, you’ll lose traffic and business.”

What do you think is the most important contributor to keeping clients happy?

“It is vital to communicate effectively with your clients regarding SEO, as this will greatly improve their satisfaction and keep them happy. Whether your team excels in metrics or not, you will likely fail if you don’t keep your client informed.”
