We’re excited to have interviewed Florida SEO expert Dustin DeTorres from DeTorres Group for the next installment of our Featured SEO Expert Series!
DeTorres Group is one of SEOblog’s Top SEO companies in Orlando.
Dustin has more than 11 years of experience in the business-to-business (B2B) space working with numerous types of companies across the U.S., Canada and Europe. His focus on SEO and lead generation has allowed him to truly become a specialist in online marketing for businesses that sell to other businesses, as many marketing strategists and agencies have a more broad approach when it comes to digital marketing.
Over the years, he’s helped technology companies, eCommerce businesses and startups. He has worked across many different types of B2B websites helping them find SEO issues (forensic SEO). He’s performed thousands of deep SEO audits and helped some of his clients grow to two to three times their size.
“The most unique thing about Florida SEO is our demographics of both elderly people and a melting pot of people from all over the world. We also have millions of people both moving and visiting here on vacation every month so there’s a lot of mobile and local search traffic.”
“We have always focused on B2B revenue. Improving rankings, onsite optimization and other SEO key performance indicators (KPIs) is great and we definitely measure those, however our clients care mostly about the bottom line. So all of our marketing decisions and reporting are wrapped around those numbers.”
“One of our B2B clients was up against huge brands that have deep pockets to spend on Google ads. Their internal SEO team was struggling to gain traction both from an SEO and visibility perspective. We updated the site a lot from a technical SEO perspective, created strategic content and both analyzed and built many high-quality links to specific pages internally. Over the course of nine months, the website traffic went from 2000 unique visitors a month to well over 25,000. We were also able to generate 200+ new backlinks to this client’s URL. But how did this affect the bottom line? This client has noted that there has been a 300 percent increase in new leads and a 150 percent increase in new revenue opportunities compared to the second quarter of last year.”
“Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.”
“Results. I think staffing, onboarding and culture are all important too. However, your clients are hiring you to ultimately generate more revenue for them. Being able to consistently do that in a space that is continuously changing due to algorithm updates, trends, economic fluctuations etc is truly a testament of your skill as a marketer.”
“Google is going to continue to focus on delivering the best results to its users. This means that the focus on SEO may not be as honed in on actual website property optimization in the future as it would be on one’s personal or company online brand, perception and visibility through mediums like voice search or whatever cool new device we use in the future to search Google.”
“My first reaction is that whoever said that truly doesn’t have a good understanding of what’s happening in the space.”
“Communication. Even if it’s through automated pings, a monthly check-in or an occasional handwritten letter. Just letting them know that you are both working towards the same goals by showing them the results and speaking their language goes a long way.”
