You should look at a client relationship the same way you look at any other meaningful relationship in your life: How can your bond grow stronger? How can you effectively problem solve? How can you get on the same page? Transparency is the answer.
“There will be times where you’re spread too thin and need to move a deadline or believe that a different course of action would benefit your client’s plan. You’re human! That’s part of the job. The key during these tricky conversations is to earnestly communicate with them, rather than having to face them later when you’ve failed to meet their expectations. Your client will respect you because they will be able to see that you are thinking ahead, bringing them into the conversation and considering the ultimate success of their business.
