Mendel Cohen is the CEO and Founder at Krafted Digital – a full-service digital agency based out of Miami, Florida. Mendel has helped some of the world’s largest brands develop and implement successful digital strategies. Aside from his marketing ventures, Mendel is also an investor in SaaS companies with his group, Krafted Technologies. His company, Krafted Digital, works with businesses and brands in over 30 industries and prides itself on being more than just a marketing firm, but a marketing partner to their clients.

What would you say are the biggest challenges in incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into digital marketing campaigns?

“I think that incorporating AI into digital marketing campaigns is fairly simple when you understand it properly. I would say that the core of the AI-marketing combo is properly reading data and implementing systems around that data. At our firm, we’ve invested in softwares that pretty much do this for us, but there are many great tools available to everyone, such as Optmyzr and Madgicx, that can help you use the power of AI to create more effective marketing campaigns.”

How does your agency explain the importance of AI to your digital marketing clients?

“We always try to emphasize the importance of AI to our clients. It’s a bit hard to explain artificial intelligence in simple terms to anyone not really familiar with it, but as an agency that strives for the highest levels of transparency, we do mention how it works and how we utilize it.”

Can you share a success story from a local SEO campaign centered around your area that used AI learning?

“There is one client in the CBD industry that enabled us to fully utilize patterns in content and get a headstart on our competition with new trends. We saw great success in that campaign.”

What is the best advice you ever received in business as an entrepreneur?

“The best business advice I ever received was to be patient in the process of building a brand. The exact quote I was given was, ‘It takes six months to build a Rolls Royce and 13 hours to build a Toyota.’ In business, there are many challenging times, especially at the start, but I think the companies that really thrive are the ones that have meaning and purpose behind them.”

What do you think makes an SEO agency truly great at using AI in marketing campaigns?

“Without a doubt, it’s the software. We’re investing heavily in developing exclusive AI software that can help us with our projects.”

Any predictions for the future of AI in digital marketing?

“At the moment, I don’t think AI is getting the focus it should in the marketing world. I think that it’s going to become a key part, and the agencies that missed the train are going to need to catch up. Artificial intelligence will be mainly used in areas like identifying trends, analyzing audiences and lots of automation. But I will say that messaging, creativity and building emotional connections with your customers are areas that will always require the ‘human touch.’”

What is your reaction when you hear that “SEO is dying”?

“To be honest, I don’t really know. SEO is an unpredictable game. Google can make an algorithm change tomorrow that can drastically change how SEO is done. What all marketers need to understand is that Google wants to give their users the best experience possible, and that should be the goal. If I had to give a prediction on the future of SEO, I would say that rankings will shift more towards who has the best content, not necessarily who has the best optimization.”

What do you think is the most important contributor to keeping clients happy?

“The answer here is simple – engagement. We have so many clients that used to work with other agencies, and the first thing they complain about is the lack of communication and engagement they got with their old agency. Clients, of course, want results, but they also want transparency and knowledge of what’s going on within their campaigns. Keeping clients regularly updated on their projects, and occasionally getting on calls to give them an overview of what’s going on, is by far the most important contributor to keeping clients happy.”
