We’re excited to have interviewed Pittsburgh SEO expert Ashleigh Bowling from Cosmitto for the next installment of our Featured SEO Expert Series! Cosmitto is one of SEOblog’s Top SEO agencies in Pittsburgh.

Ashleigh Bowling is an SEO and content strategist at Cosmitto, working with both B2B and B2C clients across numerous industries — from eCommerce and travel to real estate and banking. Ashleigh and Cosmitto specialize in on-page SEO (keyword research, content and HTML source code optimization), as well as off-page SEO (link building, brand promotion, social media marketing and the like). Ashleigh’s favorite part of her job is working with clients to create their voice and build a community through their website and social media pages.

What would you say is unique and/or challenging about the Pittsburgh SEO industry?

“The SEO industry has really been on the rise in Pittsburgh, with some freelancers being able to focus solely on optimization. SEO wasn’t always regarded as its own entity here, at least not entirely, but now its importance is more widely recognized and there are more SEO specialist positions opening up.”

How does your agency stand out in a crowded market like Pittsburgh?

“Most of us are experienced content writers first, so we’re able to produce excellent copy and optimize it. Some agencies only focus on optimization, but we don’t underestimate the power of meaningful, entertaining, well-researched writing in tandem with SEO. The end result is content that actually answers your customer’s questions, the main goal of digital marketing.”

Can you share a success story from a local SEO campaign centered around the Pittsburgh area?

“We work with a Pittsburgh audio, video service and installation company. After six months of implementing our strategies, roughly 90% of their online leads now come from organic traffic.”

What is the best advice you ever received in business?

“You don’t have to be the smartest person in the room. Instead, be the person who is most eager to learn. There is always room to grow, no matter how experienced you already are.”

What do you think is the most important quality that makes an agency truly great?

“Our ability to accept setbacks and learn from them.”

Any predictions for the future of SEO?

“‘Good enough’ won’t always cut it. As people begin to fully understand the importance of SEO, they will have to constantly improve to remain relevant.”

What is your reaction when you hear that “SEO is dying”?

“Well, is Google dying? No, it’s alive and well — just like SEO. SEO will become increasingly important as even more content is added to the internet and we require a better method of combing through that surplus of information.”

What do you think is the most important contributor to keeping clients happy?

“Realistic goal setting. Here at Cosmitto, we do our research to make actionable and attainable goals, sharing our progress every step of the way. We’ve found that being as honest and transparent as possible is the key to building lasting relationships with clients. Plus, we’re not into fluff here. If you work with us, we won’t try to dazzle you with a dressed-up service order. We prescribe what works and if necessary, we adjust. It’s really quite simple.”
